Minjun’s art is the typical example of “cynical realism”. His
artworks are filled with numerous laughing figures or men with
humorous pose. His mocking attitude such as cynicism and nihilism
toward contemporary people and civilization is the natural result
of the spiritual emptiness after Tian’anmen Square catastrophe.
